Nigerian Cinema: Prolific and gaining popularity in Africa and around the world
An article in Le Monde on Nigerian Cinema. Image Quilt Productions' associate producer for "How to Stay Sane in Paris" is Laetitia Kouassi. She recently found this article on Nigerian cinema. Laetitia is a filmmaker working in documentary and independent feature film production in New York. Her roots lie in France and Cote d'Ivoire.

The Nigerian Cinema Industry is a thriving market where local producers develop, produce, and distribute their own feature films on video. The producers by and large fund their own films and get them out into the market to immediately recoup investment. Many Nigerian filmmakers are also beginning to explore coproduction possibilities with South African and other international producers. Africa and the Diaspora: Editing Archives for New Edge Theater
This year Image Quilt Productions edited a series of archival pieces for New Edge Cabaret Theater on an Avid Xpress Pro system. The pieces from their European tour show a company on the edge of thought globally. They bring New York to the world and allow others to see connections in their musical and cultural fusion of Latin slasa and African-American hip hop. Watch these clips from their tour:











A performance piece with Luis Chaluisan of New Edge Theater. He tells us how the character, Delilah, revealed the story of her lost leg on their wedding night. She copes with rape under the hands of military officials.
