Art House Cinemas
Art House Cinemas is Image Quilt' Production's exhibition initiative. We are inthe process of acquiring three historic movie theaters in New York that will create unique exhibition venues for world cinema and live performances.
Each venue will cater to a mixed audience of college students, families, young professionals, and cultural communities from Africa, Asia, Latin America living in the United States.
We feel that in order for world cinema to be appreciated and gain greater marketability it must be experienced as an “experience”.
Each theater will be equipped with a restaurant, coffee bar and retail shop that encourages its patrons to hang out, lounge, and mingle before of after shows. Live performance will also be part of the theaters offerings. The theaters will schedule touring shows of performers and groups. From the underground poet, Sarah Jones’s one woman show, “Bridge Tunnel” to the stomping power of New York’s South African dance troupe “Juxtapower”, to “Jennifer Lopez Live”, the theater will support regular concerts of established and emerging talent.
Estimated project cost: $7,000,000.
