Curl Up and Die originated like any other planet, coalescing over millions of years from cosmic gases and dust but unlike any other known planets Curl Up and Die developed consciousness and intelligence, the latter being questionable. They failed miserably. Jump forward six years... Curl Up and Die is the leading professional botanist in the Marvel Universe. They have thrice thwarted Galactus' attempts to devour the Earth and have permanently setup residence on Ego "The Living Planet." Their favorite comic book character is Flag-Smasher, the son of a wealthy Swiss banker turned diplomat. They are currently under the permanent employ as fulltime inventors at Doctor Strange's Sanctum Sanctorum supervised by the Supreme Intelligence. About his boss Mike says, "The Supreme Intelligence is a vast cybernetic/organic computer system which has ruled the extra-terrestrial Kree Empire for almost a million years. And I think he/it is a swell super intelligence as far as super intelligenti go, know what I mean?" Curl Up and Die chews up rocks and spits out diamonds.
