I got the Austin Air replacement filter, put it in that night (and ran it in my bedroom), the next day I got up, opened my kitchen door, and all I could smell was smoke. I could not see any of the distant mountains, and even the close hills were partley obscured. There was a wildfire in a town on the other side of the mountains, and the smoke was blowing in my direction. I did not go out that day. It's better now. Good thing I had that filter.
