The package says "Don't get caught with your hand in the pickle jar." Now we personally have never even considered putting our hands in a pickle jar, but if you know someone who does this may be the gadget they need! At nine inches in length you could place it on the buffet table along with tongs, but we're betting that no one will know what it is.

To use, the top is depressed causing tines on the opposite end to come out of the tube and grasp the pickle.
