AVIATION MUSEUMS & AIR SHOWS
One of the best places to see historic airplanes is at the air shows that
specialize in those planes. The UK has several of these throughout the
year. The shows below will give you the preliminary information but be
sure to check each site for the current year's schedule.
Duxford Aviation Museum mentioned in the WWII section
offers a number of air shows throughout the year. Each show highlights
different historic planes and some include current military aircraft.
The
Royal International Air Tattoo (RAF Cottesmore) is one of Europe's
most sensational airshows. Cottesmore is home to the famous Harrier
'Jump Jet" . Here you will see a number of precision flying teams from
the international commumity as well as state of the art aircraft mixed
with a few historic ones.
The
Farnborough international Air Show is organized
by the Society of British Aerospace Companies, the trade association for
the UK aerospace industry, and is held every two years. It has five large
exhibition halls, a static aircraft display and a fantastic flying display
lasting over four hours; there are also exciting attractions to entertain
you and your family.
