Burning Tips, Times, and Melting Temperatures
Candle Types:
Tapers
Pillars
Novelty Candles
Soy Candles
Gel Candles
Jar Candles
Tapers or Dinner Candles
Our hand-dipped tapers melt at 170 degrees F (77 C), summer temperatures presenting no problems. They burn one inch per hour and do not drip if there is no breeze or draft.
Pillars or Cylinders
Candles Scent pillars melt at 140 degrees F (60 C). The 3" pillars burn about one-tenth inch per hour. They should be burned at least 3 hours each time they are lit so the wick will not "drown out". Give them a quarter turn from time to time so they will burn evenly in a breeze. Keep match sticks and other foreign matter out of the candle as they will cause a large flame and will melt the candle. If the wick "drowns out", cut the candle off even with the wick and dig out a saucer shape around the wick.
A popular decorating tip seen in many magazines today is to mass pillar candles together on a table or in a fireplace. They look beautiful like this, but be aware that unless you move them apart before lighting, they are likely to melt down very quickly! The candles heat each other up so that they burn much faster.
Decorative Pillars
The Candles Scent decorative pillars have a scented core that melts at 140 degrees F (60 C). and a shell that is unscented (for better color) and melts at 170 degrees F (77 C). Only the core burns in the larger pillars allowing you to use votive candles as refills. Let the votive candle burn out and remove the metal clip before inserting a new candle. The above suggestions for pillars apply to decorative pillars also.
Novelty Candles
not recommended to be burned. If burned, these candles must be placed on or in a protective surface. They are made from the same quality materials we use in our other products, but the unusual molded shapes cause the candle to burn irregularly.
You might want to start ordering novelty candles for fall...footballs, fall leaf floaters, pumpkins, ghosts, and turkeys all brighten up party tables!
Never Leave A Burning Candle Unattended!
