Alternative Web-Lesson Study Guidelines
|
Oral healthcare educator, these guidelines are only suggested, general guidelines.
They are offered to help teachers and parents decide the best produre for them to teach children in their care the basics of oral healthcare and to PREVENT oral disease, to MAINTAIN oral health, to RETAIN their teeth white, to PRESERVE their smiles for life and to AVOID expensive dentistry. To teach children all about a smile.

Guidelines according to time-frame:
|
Oral healthcare educator, all ten lessons could be undertaken over any period of time to suit the school timetable or the parents or the students.
From as few as 10 consecutive weeks up to as long as it takes, maybe 2 to 3 years, to achieve the goal; children self-motivated to prevent oral disease.

Guidelines according to sequence:
|
Oral healthcare educator, high school students and adults need only to read successive Visits to benefit from the information.
For Primary School children I recommend the following study sequence to avoid information overload.
You will maximise understanding of Oral HealthCare basics and derive maximum enjoyment and fun when learning in the following sequence :
· Study the Web-Lesson Text
· Complete the relevant Visit, Page 11 exercises
· Repeat this procedure for subsequent Web-Lessons in the age groups suggested below
· Then starting with the first Web-Lesson in the age group, cover the material in the Pre-Web-Lesson Chit-Chat and the Post Web-Lesson Chit-Chat.
Then revise the Lesson Text and finally do all Web-Lesson Exercises. Complete each Web-Lesson for the group.

Guidelines according to age :

Oral healthcare educator, begin by establishing in children a practice of oral hygiene excellence:
Age 5 : Firstly, the song lyrics and melody in Web-Lesson 10 Text;
Secondly, Web-Lesson 9 Text
Next, educate children in the basics of oral healthcare. Finally provide advice they are then able to understand:
Age 6 : Web-Lessons 1, 2 and 3 in the sequence recommended above.
Age 7 : Web-Lessons 4, 5, and 6 in the sequence recommended above.
Age 8 : Web-Lessons 7, 8, 9 and 10 in the sequence recommended above.
Then use remaining primary school years for revision and involvement in i-Treat Club discussions. Initially however, some children may require the extra time to complete the program before proceeding to high school.

Guidelines according to Levels:

Oral healthcare educator, at Primary Level: Actively instruct and involve children in the oral hygiene instruction. How they should "Treat Your Mouth". Lesson only sections from MouthWise Books Visits 9 and 10. The song from the MouthWise "4 Your Smile 2 Shine"C.D.
At Secondary Level: Instruct them in other basics of oral healthcare.' Why, Where. What and With' they should treat their mouth. Lesson only sections from MouthWise Books Visits 1 to 8 Tertiary Level: Classroom discussions on topics taken from all remaining sections throughout the MouthWise Books. With the development of a deeper understanding of oral health basis will come the acceptance of greater responsibility for their own actions.
