As a sales professional and leader for over twenty-six years, Christie Northrup has learned how to start new businesses with creative ways of finding and keeping customers. Further, she has experienced the satisfaction as well as the frustration of building a successful business while fulfilling the many roles of raising a strong family.
Like many people, her selling experience began when opened her first lemonade stand. Then, she sold newspaper subscriptions door-to-door in elementary school, with the goal of earning money to purchase Christmas presents. During high school and college (eight years), Christie worked behind the counter in retail sales. It was here that she learned the principles of providing great customer service.
After college, as a young mother and wife, Christie found she now had different needs: to meet other adults, earn extra money, and stay home with her children. She began as a consultant with a major direct selling company and worked her way to become a top sales leader. Even though the Northrups relocated to several cities across the United States, Christie built large customer bases in each area and recruited hundreds of people to establish top producing, nationally ranked selling organizations.
In addition to building a successful direct-sales career, Christie branched out to selling airtime for a local radio station in an effort to broaden her sales experience. This gave her a great understanding of working with business-to-business clients.
Because her passion is teaching and sharing, in 1998 Christie formed Lemon Aid Learning Adventures to teach – not merely train – sales professionals, independent consultants, business owners and team leaders how to improve every aspect of their performance with creative, unique, and easy-to-implement TWISTs. She is a certified “Train-the-Trainer,” and her books and audios are now popular resources for finding and keeping customers, boosting sales, finding recruits,
Christie believes that everyone—particularly women—should be an entrepreneur and create their own business: full-time, part-time or as a hobby! Her philosophy, from which the Lemon Aid Learning Adventures began, is that we all go through trying trials—Sour Situations—but the only way to triumph is to TWIST the way we see them and look at what we’ve learned, not lost. Then, Sweet Successes and Juicy Profits result!
The Northrup family resides in the Dallas, Texas area. Christie and her husband of twenty-nine years, Robert (also her business partner), are the parents of three grown sons, and have two grandchildren. When not speaking or writing, Christie loves to create new recipes and also enjoys volunteering in her church’s women and youth organizations.
