No hollow plastic!! Sandbox is made of solid poly lumber, which looks similar to wood but won't crack or splinter. This wood simulated vinyl is derived from post-consumer high density polyethylene (HDPE) recycled bottles such as milk containers and detergent bottles. Bottomless to hold more sand and for drainage. Manufactured in the USA
