(P/3'-8')(SH) Also called Black Snakeroot or Bugbane, Black Cohosh makes an attractive woodland plant for the shade garden producing three foot tall spikes of white flowers. The ‘black’ in its name refers to the color of its rhizomes. Has been used medicinally as an expectorant, astringent, sedative, anti-rheumatic and emmenagogue.
