Ice House

The Ice House typically would be found along back roads or in rural parts of the country in the early 1900's. They preceeded the large metal type vending structures as a means of storing large blocks of ice. The building has four hand carved stone walls and a riveted metal door which was necessary to maintain the inside cold. An evaporator was installed in the side to provide constant cold air. This structure has a tar paper type roof, stone arch along the front, sign, and ice tongs. It sits on a base with a highly detailed and weathered front entry way. Included are a door pull, hasp and lock. The building is 4 1/2" x 7 3/4" x 6 3/8". The base is 4 1/2" x 10 1/4".
