Alabaster Corporation is a company that specializes in the development and production of cutting edge products used in the elimination of hydrocarbon contamination. The company also offers environmental remediation consulting services. Alabaster Corporation materials are the product of an applied science called environmental biotechnology. Alabaster products are not just soap and they are not just microbes. Our products are fully developed technology designed for remediation of unwanted hydrocarbon products. Our materials are designed as a two part system consisting of specialized blends of live microbes and advancement solutions. The advancement solutions are a combination of chemicals designed to break down the hydrocarbons for ingestion by the microbes and to promote a proper biological environment for the microbes to flourish. When properly applied, the hydrocarbons are quickly reduced to harmless fatty acids, carbon dioxide and water.

Alabaster products are used in a wide variety of applications from large scale waste site clean-up to smaller scale uses in various industries. Our Products have been used in over 1000 successful bioremediation projects including hundreds of emergency response applications, PST storage tank installations and removals, soil and groundwater remediation, industrial, commercial and military applications. Alabaster has also furnished microbic chemicals and solutions to various governmental organizations such as the Panama Canal Commission, The U.S. Navy (Norfolk Naval Station), and the U.S. Air Force (Langley Air Force Base). Alabaster currently has products with a B.P.A. (Blanket Purchase Approval) number from the U.S. Navy and a listing in the Spill Response Directory as a product supplier. Additionally Alabaster Corporation is listed in the United States Department of Defense Central Contractor Registration list with a standing blanket purchase agreement for our bioremediation and surface washing products.


Company History
Alabaster Corporation is a family-owned and operated business backed by over 40 years of industry experience. Mr. Charles Sheffield, the CEO of Alabaster Corporation, founded the company in 1989. Prior to this he founded Allied Industrial Services Incorporated and served as president and CEO from 1976 to 1988. At Allied Industrial Services, Mr. Sheffield managed contracts worth over $40 million within a six year period in the areas of industrial and commercial construction, asbestos, lead and hazardous waste abatement. From 1955 to 1976, Mr. Sheffield was the Supervisor and Construction Foreman at Lubrizol Corporation.

Building on knowledge and experience with treating hazardous waste gained on contracts with a variety of clients ranging from the U.S. Department of Energy to Petro-Peru, Mr. Sheffield began to develop environmentally safe cleaning chemicals and microbic remediation methods. He was a contractor on over 22 major water treatment plant expansions from 1986 through 1990 under the federal mandate of the Clean Water Act and in this context first developed many specialized techniques now utilized by Alabaster Corporation. In summary, Mr. Sheffield has brought over 40 years of technical and practical hands on experience and knowledge in the areas of hazardous waste management, treatment, biotechnology, project management and corporate leadership.

Alabaster Corp. was incorporated in 1990 by John Sheffield. In 1996 he won a grant from the Texas Department of Commerce for businesses that showed promise in innovation and economic potential. The grant was used for an environmental education program at Texas A&M University. The program involved curriculum prepared for the Department of Defense by Texas A&M. This program focuses on environmental remediation and hazardous waste management. John Sheffield oversees the company’s Environmental Site Assessment consulting and the implementation of remediation and products. He has been involved in the invention of several environmental products and processes on file in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
