The bonding process begins by combing or carding the fibers called carding or garnetting. Once combed, the fibers are laid into a blanket form, layer upon layer is added until a desired weight is achieved. Next a light resin coating is applied to both sides of the batting and the batting is cured to set the resin. This process produces a batting with a light, airy appearance and a resistance to fiber migration. There are several lofts or heights of bonded batting available ranging from ¼ inch to 1 inch in height.
