Welcome Does your mind wander during the Rosary? Ours do. Our family remedy is an old German tradition, in which you insert a phrase into the middle of each Hail Mary recalling the mystery. The insertion brings the mind back to Christ's life.

Here's how it works:

First, begin each Hail Mary as usual with Gabrial's and Elizabeth's salutation from St. Luke's gospel: "Hail Mary, Full of Grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou, among women and blessed is the
fruit of thy womb, Jesus".

Second, insert the Mystery Phrase from below.

Finally, end up as usual with "Holy, Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death."

The phrase depends on the mystery. So, putting it all together, if you were praying the first Glorious mystery, you'd pray on the hail mary beads as follows:

Hail, Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee! Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us
sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

At first, the additional line may be confusing, which is why we don't recommend it if you're having your Pastor over for inner, or friends. But we've found with practice the interlineation gently brings the wandering mind back to the mystery at hand.
