For free hand applique' pattern tips see link below. I recently added a second page with some details for actually doing the stitch. You will also find many unique award winning applique' patterns for quilts and wall hangings, suitable for hand and machine applique within the pages of this site.
Artfully Applique' offers applique' quilt patterns suitable for hand or machine applique'. All of the pattern samples shown are done with traditional needle turn. Some of the kit samples are done with a fusible product, and only because I prefer not to spend all my time making lots of samples of the same design just because the fabric becomes unavailable! All of the patterns are my original designs.
It is my desire that you find as much joy in completing applique' quilts as I found in creating applique' patterns for you. I know how precious the gift of time is and how much satisfaction comes from using that time to create beautiful applique' quilts. I strive to give you applique' quilting designs, which are worthy of your craftmanship. Quality is very important to me and your satisfaction is my top priority. If you ever find any reason to be dissatisfied with any of my products, have suggestions or need advice about completing your applique' quilting project, please write to me.

New Series!
Simpler flowers! Still with plenty of detail, but the blossoms are larger and overall the block is smaller with way fewer pieces than the Nearly Nouveau series! These designs have 8" circles and the block is 12", finished. These are the four designs. I have now put the wallhanging together, so they are all four available in one package for $26.00. The iris may still look difficult, but it isn't so bad. These are still intended for those with SOME experience, not a "first-time-ever" type project. ^_^ Believe it or not, they all have the same green fabric around them. My attention was on the flowers - just use your imagination. ^_^
Shipping cost - starts at $1.00 and is consistent with NEW (P.O. webpage says as of 7/5/11) normal post office rates. At 12 oz - I will use the priority flat rate, which is currently $4.80.
Quantity Discount I have managed to figure out how to include a "quantity discount", just wasn't able to do it as a percentage of total. If you order 3 or more patterns, you will receive a discount - the minimum discount being $2.00 and the max is $25.00.
A New Series It is called "In a Word" and, thus, each design will have a one-word name. OK, these are the latest in that series and, as you can see, they have taken a new 'direction'. There are some words about that on the patterns page, which you can get to by clicking on the link below the pictures. The Lizard is the latest. There is a kit for that one, not the other two (yet?). The sample is not finished - is easier to show folks the process with it this way.

Exciting news! It looks like my framed mini's will be available to purchase in the gift shop of the San Jose Museum of Quilts and Texiles! Here is a picture of the first one I am shipping. Looks like I'm gonna have lots to keep me busy in the next few
months. Now that's a very good thing! ^_^

All The News That's Fit To Print
Thought I would try something new and post something like a mini newsletter here on the home page. If I remember and I am at home, I will change it each week.
ok, back home again. The class was a success and my hosts were delightful. However - somehow I managed to forget the stupid camera. You'd have thought I would have just gotten up from here and picked it up and put it with the stuff to go. Not. I could have used the cellphone - didn't. The folks I stayed with have an incredible setting for their home. In amongst big old redwoods, plus - Ken is a grower of rhodedendruns! I mean, REALLY! Some of the plants (bushes!) had to be 10 feet tall and nearly as wide. Would love to be there in the Spring.
So, now I'm going to put a picture of the opportunity quilt here. I realized I have missed several opportunites to sell some tickets just by being 'silly' about it. I worked up my courage and kind of jokingly asked Nodja if she wanted to buy a ticket - just before I was leaving. She did - 6 for $5, in fact. And said I should have offered them at the class. Well, says I, I didn't have a picture, so figured there was no point! She thought they would have bought anyway - based on my other samples there. Really???? Anyway - this is not a good picture and was taken before the binding. And you can't see all the fabulous quilting - just have to trust me on that one. If you want a ticket (or 6) just send me an email at jrixman@yahoo.com
Breaking News! High Sierra Quilters has moved to Placerville!!! yea!! They are in the same little strip mall as $$ Store and Grocery Outlet - that's on the East side of town, (heading East) get off Hwy 50 at Schnell School Rd., turn right at end of ramp and left at the 4-way stop just a few feet away. It's about in the middle, between Grocery Outlet and $ Store (at 1444 Broadway). They are now open! Sooo, if you have been wanting to take a class from me - there is one scheduled for March 3rd, 10-4. Give them a call! 530-622-9990 Also, a Flannel Jacket class on March 7 & 14. Hope to see you there! ^_^
Also - something new: I just added this webpage to something I just discovered(thanks to a jewelery making friend). It's called QFLEA and it's an online 'flea market' - except it's for small businesses with webpages - and who sell QUALITY items. You will find the link at the bottom of this page - check it out. And check out NanciesFancies in the jewelry section.
I now have the first 3 shows of the year under my belt and I can't say I'm feeling all that great. Am doing my best to stay optimistic - it's just a good thing I love what I'm doing! ^_^ Makes it easier to ride the waves of retail - not to mention all the other stuff going on this year.
I have now finished the second 4-block collection of mini's. While I have them sewn together to create a small wallhanging, the package does not include directions for doing that. It does include some suggestions for how you might use the 4 mini floral patterns. You can check them out in the picture below and use the link to get to page to order. ^_^
There's also a new one in the Simply Flowers series. It lives up to its name - it is simple and relatively easy. I think it is sweet and it's one of my favorite flowers. There is a kit available. The link will take you to the pattern - the kit can be found on the Simply Flowers Kits page, found in the drop down menu to the right of the pattern page - where it says "browse".
