Deva Method
Once you have decided you may want to become a Deva Method instructor and we have accepted you into the program, you would enter into a licensing agreement with us and begin teacher training.
Why would I do this?
If you are already a voice teacher or a professional singer who does a bit of teaching on the side, you may be asking yourself, why would I go through a training program and sign a licensing agreement to become a Deva Method instructor? Good question.
Benefits to you
1. The self-esteem and confidence you will have from knowing that you can help any singer overcome vocal difficulties toward achieving their goals.*
2. A full “Owner’s Manual” on how to run a successful voice studio. We’ve been doing it for quite a while and we know what works.
3. Working with and selling professionally produced and published books, tapes and other recorded vocal enhancement materials (The Deva Method products).
4. Having an organized and comprehensive curriculum from which to guide your voice students toward their vocal goals.
5. Feeling good about yourself because you know you are the most professional voice teacher you could possibly be.
6. Ever growing brand name recognition for the method through our internet presence and worldwide sales of Jeannie Deva products.
7. Having technical support from Jeannie Deva in the event you have a question about how to help a particular voice student.
8. Raised status and rates due to your superior knowledge as a certified vocal coach.
* Since we don’t want to be accused of unrealistic promises, let us qualify what we mean by “any singer.” We have been able to get results with anyone; however, there have been a few situations where due to a physical handicap or chemical addiction, full results were not achieved. Someone who smokes cigarettes or uses drugs or excessive alcohol will make progress up to a point and then “hit a wall” vocally. This is because of the mentally and physically debilitating effects of smoking or drugs. So if your student smokes or uses drugs, there will be a limit to how much you can help them. We have a student policy that lets them know that right upfront. Also, since the voice is emotion sensitive, if a person is so emotionally distraught that they use psychiatric drugs like Prozac to cope with life, there may be a limit to their vocal progress.
Licensing
Before you begin your training in the Deva Method program, you will sign a Licensing Agreement which will give you use of our trademarked and copyrighted method. If you are accepted into our program, we will provide you copies of the agreement with plenty of time for you review it before we begin your training. Our associations with you and our other teachers are based upon understanding and mutual benefit, not on legalities. However, you should fully understand the agreement before entering into it.
The Licensing Agreement will give you access to buy our products at wholesale, use our trademarks and benefit from the goodwill that accompanies our name. Most importantly, you will be trained to become a professional voice teacher with the attendant respect and status. You will earn respect and status as a result of the help you give to your students.
For the use of our trademarks and copyrighted method, we would receive from you a royalty based upon a percentage of your income as a voice teacher.
Not a Franchise
This is not a franchise and we are not making claims that you will be successful or will earn any specific amounts of money. With your cooperation, we will train you to teach The Deva Method correctly and we will pass on to you business practices that have proven successful for us. However, you will own your voice studio and will be fully responsible for its success.
Training Fee
There is tuition for the training which you would pay at the time of signing the Licensing Agreement. The Apprenticeship is divided into Four Phases. During each Phase you will be recording videos of your application of the skills you are learning. These are reviewed by Jeannie and she will send you any needed correction assignments. At the end of each Phase you would travel to Los Angeles to work in person with Jeannie so she can verify and polish your skills. The one time flat tuition fee covers our costs in supervising your training.
We are currently offering scholarships to qualified candidates that reduce the full tuition by about 63%. The exact fees for your apprenticeship will be determined during the application process.
