All of our yarns are the natural fleece colors or blends of those fleeces from our farm flock of Merino and Fine Wool Natural Colored sheep. The Natural Merino wool is so fine that it is known to be the “itch free” wool. Most people who believe they are allergic to wool are actually being itched (or scratched) by the coarser fiber or guard hair of wool from sheep that are not fine enough to provide a yarn that may be worn next to the skin. The Merino fiber is the finest of the wool fibers and the modern Merino has been bred to eliminate the guard hairs so common in other breeds. The very best men’s and women’s woolen clothing are made from 100% Merino wool for these very reasons...and did we mention, nothing made of wool is going to be softer or warmer!
We carry two knitting weights; Two Ply DK, and both a Three Strand Worsted, and a 2-Ply Worsted. The Two Ply DK is available in our Dark Chocolate" and "Pewter", the Three Strand Worsted is in our "Silver" color and the Two-Ply Worsted is in both the new Slate and our White "Aran" yarns. The White and Dark Chocolate are the natural colors of the sheep, while Silver and Pewter are a blend of the two. The new Slate color comes from the fleeces of some not quite all blacks and not quite all whites and when processed together, yielded this beautiful soft knitting yarn.
