We have tried to keep our privacy policy simple.

First of all, we at Brookridge Associates Inc., d/b/a NorthwestRowing.com, never give out your information to anyone else, regardless of how we receive it. As for other information we may receive from your visits to our site, here is how we handle it:

Visitors to the Site:
If you visit our site, we do not keep a record of your visit - we do not know your name or other identifying information. Our web host, Stores Online, does keep a record of the IP address of visitors, and the source of any link used to access our site, for general statistical purposes. Therefore we can run reports which tell us how many unique visitors came to our site, which pages were viewed and how often, and how they were directed to our website via links on other web sites, but only in a general sense - we don't know who you are.

Newsletter Subscribers
If you subscribe to our newsletter, we keep your e-mail address so we can send you the newsletter. That's it.

Classified Ads
If you place a classified ad on our website, we keep a copy of any e-mail correspondence so we can contact you regarding the ad, if necessary.

Orders for NorthwestRowing.com Products
If you place an order for products sold directly by NorthwestRowing.com, such as the College Scholarship Book and the Slim Book of Rowing, we retain your order information for five years (name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, ship-to address, referring website, and club or school name, if given). Our credit-card processing service only gives us the last four digits of your credit card number and the type of credit card used, so that is also retained for the same period of time. We never see your entire credit card number.

Orders Placed Through Advertisers
If you place an order through one of our advertisers or affiliate programs, such as Amazon.com, Art.com, AllPosters.com, or others, we never see the information you give to them. The only information we receive from those advertisers is a count of how many orders were placed, shipped, and the amount of the order & any commission we might receive. We cannot identify you from this information.

We use Stores Online as our web host, and Electronic Commerce International (ECI) as our merchant credit-card order processor. The information you give when you place an order directly to NorthwestRowing.com is sent through ECI, debited from your bank account, and (after a fee is deducted) then deposited to our account. The process uses the 128-bit SSL secure encryption, the highest secure method of data transfer in general commercial use. We never see your entire credit card number, our system allows us to see only the last four digits, the type of credit card being used, and the expiration date. In general, this process is much more secure than giving your credit card to a store clerk or a waiter (see this story).

If you are having difficulty placing an order using the website we are happy to take your order over the telephone or by mail, but please be aware that the other methods are actually less secure than entering an order through our website, as they make the credit card information available to others besides the credit card processing service. In particular, please do not send us an e-mail with your credit card information - basic e-mail communication between your internet host and ours is not protected at the same level as our order processing service.
