A Short Word about Ergs.....
The evolution of the rowing machine (known in rowing as an "ergomoter" or "erg", for short, has revolutionized rowing training and conditioning. The accepted standard for the industry is the
Concept 2 Model D Rowing Machine
which is used throughout the world as the primary off-water training and measuring device for rowing clubs, schools, universities, and national teams. It most closely mimicks the actual stresses and movements which a rower will experience on the water, and at the same time it's electronics allow for measurement of time elapsed, distance rowed, calories consumed, heart rate, and a wide gamut of other valuable data. The time measurements used on these machines has become the standard which coaches around the world use to compare the strength and endurance of rowers. "Indoor Rowing" has even become a sport within it's own right, with competitions held annually culminating in the "Crash B" sprints in Boston in February of each year.
