When Trish showed me her My Baby Charm, I was
touched. It was one of those breathtaking moments in my life. I knew what it
meant to her, but to me it looked just as precious as all our babies who had
lived. Six of our fifteen grandbabies Trish delivered at home with a midwife
and I got to time the contractions, boil the water and bring the ice chips for
five of them. I asked her if I could have a My Baby Charm to wear to
represent all the babies in our lives. We have so many blessings to count that
outweigh our losses!
Trish and I wear our charms all the
time. As others have asked about them many also wanted to have one of their
own. Trish really couldn’t bring herself to make her My Baby Charm into a
business, but she managed to get a charm for whoever wanted one. In many
cases of a lost baby I found that this My Baby Charm was like a key that
opened up the doors of depression that had closed a mom out of ‘real life.’ I
felt that it was something precious that needed to be available to moms who
need it, as well as for grandmas, like me, who love to make a statement to the
world that our babies represent some of the greatest joy in our lives. So, it
was another breathtaking moment in my life when I asked Trish if I could
market the charm and she said I could. Other than the technical frustrations
it has been nothing but joy for me to work with this site. I love the
memories it jogs!
To me my My Baby Charm represents all
the precious memories we have of all our own kids as well as all their kids.
The kids grow up so fast, but we treasure the memories. The memories go from
praying that their deliveries would be safe to the mealtime and bedtime
prayers with them; from Bible stories and make believe stories to stories they
write and make up for fun. Then there are make up and finger nail polish
memories; walking the floor at night memories; chex and pancake making
memories; baseball memories; emergency room memories; homebirth memories;
pictures painted and drawn for us memories; snakes found memories; snake and
dog bite memories; magazine boy memories; Solitaire, Free Cell and Hand and
Foot Canasta memories; memories of hiking together and vacationing together;
holiday and road trip memories; memories of baths from those in the sink to
those in the whirlpool and the showers that take over the whole bathroom! The
memories belong to us, and they go on and on, but the kids all belong to God,
and we give thanks to Him for giving them to us to nurture, love, and
treasure.
