Omega 3 essential fatty acids have long been recognized for their significant health benefits. Clinical studies have determined that the main benefits are derived from DHA (Docosahexaenoic Acid) and to a lesser extent EPA (Eicosapentaenoic Acid).

Although you will receive various health benefits from Omega 3s when taken from plant sources such as flax seed oil, you may miss out on the special benefits from DHA and EPA. This is because oils from plant sources do not contain DHA or EPA. Instead they contain alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) which is a precursor to DHA and EPA.

Therefore you have to convert the ALA to DHA and EPA….however, if your health is compromised in any way, or you are elderly this conversion may not take place.

Only fish oils provide DHA and EPA in a natural form that your body can easily assimilate. No conversion is required by the body. Natural fish oils do however have a number of drawbacks:

High levels of contaminants in the form of PCB's.
Heavy metals, including mercury.
Low levels of DHA, the most beneficial component of fish oil.

NB: As most fish oil capsules do not come from the same country where they were encapsulated, they are also subject to lengthy transport in tankers, additional handling, and additives to prevent them from becoming rancid.

As another plus…the fish is harvested, processed and the oil/esters encapsulated in New Zealand under the strictest controls possible so there is no risk of contamination due to excessive handling.

Furthermore, we provide the formula in the ester form instead of the usual triglyceride form of most fish oils. The body has to convert the triglycerides to ester in order to use it, so by taking it in the ester form in the first instance the bio-availability is greatly improved!

And finally...the purity and freshness of this product is such that we do not need to add any additives or preservatives.
