S.A.F.E began with a promise. The promise was to provide quality nutrients to those who need them at an affordable price. Les and Patti Dynes began SAFE in 1992. In 1981, Les, who the operated a very busy Brisbane legal practice, was diagnosed with cancer. At the time of diagnosis, he was at stage 4A with a large pelvic tumour and much and much of the ilium bone affected by (secondary) cancer. Not a great deal of hope was held for him by doctors. After several years of medical treatment and little progress, Les discovered the healing powers of the leaves of green barley. The knowledge about this ‘green miracle’ seemed to come in answer to a prayer. Soon after he discovered powdered green barley leaves, Les was introduced to vegetative organic colloidal minerals. The tumour shrank to nothing and the bone reformed in his pelvis. His recovery was complete. (This is where the promise became effective.)
Les, who believes people should ensure up to 80 per cent of their diet is organically grown, sits on top of business that takes in 28 companies and has 70 staff. Today SAFE sells health supplements in 92 countries, has 80,000 members and is still growing. Activities involve organic and herbal products, skin and hair care, cleaning products, mineral fertilizers, laboratories and health centres around Australia and in Hong Kong.
SAFE offers iridology, hair analysis, live blood microscopy, osteopathy, acupuncture, massage, beauty therapies, non surgical facelifts and traditional organ-function testing.
The Academy of SAFE Therapies was officially opened in 2000 – its aim is to train health practitioners and therapists to a superior standard. This facility is a totally new concept in education delivery. The Academy not only offers the best quality courses available, but also covers Health Industry practices for the delivery of education, research and development, production and manufacturing. The Academy is unique in that it also offers its students experience in tissue and soil analysis, a therapeutic laboratory and herbal research – facilities not found elsewhere. Graduates of the Academy’s Diploma of Naturopathy are automatically eligible to continue their studies via a one year upgrade to a Bachelor of Naturopathy.
The SAFE Analytical Laboratory houses the latest Inductively Couple Plasma Atomic Emission Spectrometer (ICPAES). This ‘state of the art’ equipment produces accurate and reliable results, together with the widest range of elements ever measured on any analysis. The laboratory also houses an Atomic Absorption Mass Spectrometer, a Hydried Generator (for elements such as Mercury), a Shimadzu Gas Chromatograph and a UV Spectrometer (for elements such as phosphorous and to check UV contents of sun block creams., pH and conductivity meters plus a Nitride/ Chloride detector. In short every piece of equipment necessary to conduct tissue, hair, soil, water and plant tissue analysis.
