Cool Fire Pit

The Fire Pit is a fun, gathering point for friends, family and neighbors. Many hours can be enjoyed outdoor in this activity. Like all activities, some common sense safety issues must be noted in the use of any fire pit. So, please observe some of these rules and just use good common sense all of us have with fire and very hot things. All fire pits use wood, logs, charcoal and pressed wood logs. The burning of these materials give off smoke and heat and fumes. It is important not to use your fire pit on, in or near areas which contain or are made of combustable materials. Dead grass, timber, wood decking, docks and other materials may catch fire. Also, you may cause damage from the fire pit's metal legs which transfer heat downward from the fire bowl. Use caution around areas that might catch fire flying sparks and embers. Many people mount the fire pit legs on stone, bricks and other heat absorbing materials. Again, take caution when using rocks, bricks and concrete slabs. The legs of the fire pit may slip off of these items. Remember, legs of any fire pit may become very hot. The hot legs will burn wood and spoil a wooden deck or dock. And, a permanent wood burn may result. Fire pits must not be used in your garage or home. The burning coals, wood or other combustable materials give off carbon monoxide. This is a colorless, odorless and toxic gas that will kill you in concentrated amounts. Do not use a fire pit in a closed area. Do not barbeque in your home or garage for the same reason. Light your fire pit with lighting materials. "Fire starters" are neat little pieces of material that get a fire going quickly. At this point, MyFirePit.com does not offer these items. Check your local grocery store or dollar store. Please do not light your fire pit or grill with highly flamable materials such as gasoline or alcohol. You may suffer injury. Again, use common sense.
