THIS SITE IS INTENDED TO FULFILL THREE PURPOSES . . .
- It is a fundraising site which helps us buy recreational reading books for disadvantaged children in crisis intervention and refugee shelters throughout the United States ... and around the world. Without your help, nothing happens!
- It is a portal to access other sites which provide us with income to support this and other IVE League educational projects. Visit the links page and our many supporters.
- It is a directory to several proven income opportunities where our sponsorship and your participation also provide us with income to keep our other projects and programs operating.
Your support will be greatly appreciated.
Buy a Book ... Get that Book ... ...and Help Give Another Book to a "Displaced" Child!
When you order one of our world-class children's books for your own purposes ... ... the "profits" support the IVE League's Global Gift of Learning program.
... or if you prefer, for $10.00 or less (even just the price of a single book), you can exercise your power to change the life of a displaced child -- and perhaps the future of the world!
The IVE League, a 20-year old, federally registered [501(c)(3)] nonprofit foundation, through the generosity of people like you...like us... is continuing a program to provide crisis-deprived children around the world--and their families--with colorful, high quality, easy to read books which they can call their own. These are the kinds of books that specialists in Early Childhood Development agree can motivate kids to want to read; to inspire them to the single habit that leads to life-long learning. We believe that reading leads to learning, learning leads to understanding, and understanding can lead to a more peaceful world!
Every season can be (should be) a special gifting season! The IVE League started this unique program in the United States 1999, and is now continuing in the third millennium--taking the program global--asking you to help us give the love of reading--truly the gift of learning--to the kinds of children who need it most; "disposable" children in abuse and crisis interdiction centers, homeless shelters, pre-foster placement, and regretably war/refugee centers.
Throughout the United States--and around the world--there are thousands of these facilities, places of shelter from a too-harsh world; each doing their best to provide food, shelter, and clothing to those who are temporarily unable to provide adequately for themselves. But many of them are children who have been torn from everything they know and have become like Moses--strangers in a strange, and often confusing, land. They have little, if anything, to call their own. And we, as teachers, know that like most children, everywhere, they do have curious minds. They are eager to learn.
The Global Gift of Recreational Reading is a year-round program. Contributions are welcome, and will be put to use, at any time during the year. It is most active during the summer months and months of October through December--traditional American holiday and vacation seasons. In the United States, we work through crisis intervention centers, and to expand to a global program in 2005, we will be shipping to U. S. Military bases and personnel around the world with the request that the GIs, is individuals, distribute the books to children in their areas.
You can become a part of the Global Gift of Learning program with a single tax deductible donation . . . the cost of a single book. . . as little as $5.95 (including all of the requiired taxes and shipping charges). Of course we would hope you could afford more but the important thing is that you help. All you have to do is buy a book, making your selection from the abbreviated list below.* We handle distributing them to our pre-selected centers (like the Children's Receiving Home in Sacramento, California) or to any similar center-- anywhere in the world--which you might prefer to see receiving the gift. Just tell us in the "remarks" box on the payment screen where you would like them sent. (For the Overseas program, we will select the country or military installation) The center are asked, in turn, to give individual books to individual children--books for them to keep as their very own.
Please join us. Together we can change the future--one child at a time!
