About us
Verdict Entertainment is a music production company
and independent record label created by veteran music producer Rod
Clemmons in 1995. We are dedicated to producing, releasing and promoting
new independent music. As a company our scope includes everything
from demo production for up and coming artists, to full album production
for independent artists, independent labels and major labels.
Clemmons' high level of musical integrity and desire for great songs
and intensely skilled artists led him to form his own production
company in 1990 which brought him to the development of Verdict
Records ultimately culminating in the formation of what is now Verdict
Entertainment, a Record Label, music publishing and production company.
The Artists signed to Verdict Records are a reflection of Rod's
desire to create music that 'takes you somewhere and elevates you
to a new place…Music that speaks.'

Clemmons is a multi-faceted musician, a gifted performer whose avenues
of musical expression have ranged from the concert stage to pop
production studios to the glories of gospel singing. At the heart
of his music has always been the classical piano.
Blind from birth, Rod discovered the piano at
age three and was being taught by one of the professors of music
of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff by age 4. From age six
through 18, studying at the Arkansas School for the Blind, he developed
a substantial repertoire of music, learning every piece through
tediously reading the score written in Braille. By high school he
was accomplished enough to be winning competitions. He won prizes
from the University of Central Arkansas and Henderson State University
in Arkansas and an invitation to a summer workshop at the University
of Texas in Austin, which resulted in a college scholarship offer.
Indiana University, with its prestigious music department, offered
him a scholarship too, which he accepted. Four years later Rod graduated
in piano performance with honors, and a new- found interest in popular
music as well as the classical repertoire.
For the past twelve years, Rod has lived and worked
in New York City running his own production company, now called
Verdict Entertainment.
At the helm of this company he has produced scores of independent
and artist management sponsored demonstration recordings and several
albums for independent record labels. Some of these albums brought
him glowing reviews from the likes of Billboard and Friday Morning
Quarterback, two of the top recording industry magazines. In the
developmental stages of the record label division of his company,
Rod has led two foundational radio promotion campaigns for its first
album. This includes a carefully devised approach to radio stations
in the small market cities (population from 25,000 to 100,000) around
the country. Through this campaign, he brought the first single
release from this album into the top 20 list of popular songs for
that market. From there he was able to take the same album into
the medium market cities (populations from 100,000 to 750,000 people)
with the number of times the song was being played competing with
Major Record Label artists such as Celine Dion, Alanis Morissette,
and Sugar Ray.
As a result of these achievements, he was
able to launch a promotional tour with this artist yielding incredible
reviews from the performances and substantial direct sales at each
performance. From here he has been able to secure a retail distribution
relationship with Sumthing Distribution, a New York based company
developed by recording industry veteran, Nile Rodgers, specializing
in the retail distribution of recordings from independent record
labels. These achievements allow him to be poised to launch a more
aggressive medium to larger medium market radio, retail and publicity
campaign, securing his company's visibility in the music industry.
